A Blessed Sigh

A Blessed Sigh is a solo project of Jamie Murray that incorporates the genres he considers his “home sounds.” Housed within a generally metal/rock paradigm, ABS incorporates influences from genres such as classical, electronic, and ambient/post. Every musician has a pretentious streak and so does not like being explained by genres or comparison to other artists. However, it is helpful to explain that the artists the composer greatly appreciates and who likely bore a high level of inspiration upon it (whether audible or not) are as follows: Opeth, Katatonia, As Cities Burn, Meshuggah, Sleep Token, and Ascend the Hill.

This album features songs written over the course of 12 years, many of which were never released. They were eventually recognized as bearing similarities to one another, though they vary in terms of primary genre, and were then gathered together in the first stages of the conception of the album. A few more songs were written to “finish the thought” those earlier songs began.
